Over 40 young people gained skills in computer and Internet use necessary for their studies and professional development in a series of IATP-sponsored trainings in July. IATP sponsored a total of 7 events throughout Georgia, including computer basics trainings and an online forum on the Scouting organization in Georgia.

  • Over 20 young people, mostly high school and college students, learned to write effective CVs and cover letters as a result of a seminar conducted by Shota Gvaramadze (FLEX 04) at the IATP center in Tbilisi on July 11. Gvaramadze taught the trainees the basics of how to compose a CV and cover letter to highlight good academic records, achievements and personal traits matching those required for the job. Gvaramadze also provided examples of unsatisfactory CVs and some useful links for online job search in Georgia. “This seminar offered us a great possibility to acquire such important skills as composing CVs and cover letters. This knowledge is very important for our careers - it increases our chances of getting good jobs,” commented seminar participant Kilabaia Giorgi.

forum.

  • An online forum with the Scouting International Commissioner for Georgia raised awareness of young Georgians about Scouting as a global values-based educational and community service movement. On July 18, students, NGO activists and other interested citizens engaged in a lively discussion about Scouting, its achievements in the world and successful projects undertaken by the Scouting organization in Georgia, which is called Dia. Forum guest Lali Kobulashvili, Scouting International Commissioner for Georgia, reported about charitable projects sponsored by Dia since its founding in 1992, such as rendering assistance to families of solders who died in the civil war between Georgians and Abkhazians in 1991 and supporting orphans in Tbilisi. Forum participants noted that the Scouting organization is still unknown to many Georgians, and Kobulashvili assisted the participants in understanding the mission and activities of this global youth movement.
